Ultimate 4WD™ Big Brake Upgrade Kit

Why do the brake upgrade?
- 4x4 ute’s brakes are smaller dimensioned to many of the family cars and SUVs.
- Once additional accessories and load is added, braking performance deteriorates further. It is not uncommon to see 400+ kgs of additional accessories added to the base vehicle (i.e. bull bar, winch ,lights, roof-rack, fridges, camping equipment, etc).
- Larger diameter tyres also detract from the vehicles braking performance.

Replace OE disc brake rotors with advanced slotted disc brake rotors (larger diameter on the front), larger calipers and braided brake lines for Ultimate 4WD stopping performance!
The outcome from this high performance brake kit with technically advanced additional strength ceramic brake pads, Ultimate 4WD slotted disc brake rotors (larger diameter on the front), larger Bendix calipers and Ultimate 4WD brake hoses results in a firm brake pedal that won’t over expand under pressure, a reduction in brake dust and braking noise along with thermal stability in high temperatures and resistance to brake fade.

Drum to Disc conversion: How Does it work?
The Ultimate 4WD Big Brake Upgrade Kit (Rear Kit) comes with a full drum to disc conversion kit.
The conversion kit removes all OE drum assembly and replaces it with the brake disc and hydraulic caliper.
The kit also contains a replacement park brake mechanism within the drum that is operated by the OE park brake cable.
The installation of the kit requires the removal of all components from the vehicle axles. This is why the kit comes complete with replacement bearings and seals (ABS rings and collars in some kits).

What kind of performance improvements can you expect?
- An unmodified PX series Ford Ranger requires 41.5 meters to stop from 80km/h.
- The same Ford Ranger fitted with the Bendix Big Brake upgrades (big front & drum-to-disc rear) came to a complete stop from 80km/h in 32.5 meters. An improvement of 9 meters or 1.5 car lengths.
- An improvement of 9 meters or 1.5 car lengths.

Do you need to undergo ADR Compliance if you do a conversion?
- All Bendix Big Brake upgrade kits have a full ADR master report and are ADR certified for VIC, NSW, ACT, SA & TAS. An engineering inspection is required to ensure that it has been installed correctly and is functioning correctly and they will issue a mod plate.
- For QLD & WA Bendix have a pre-authorised LG1 certificate and all that is required is to advise the registration authority of the installation and complete the LG1 forms.

Advantages for certain types of vehicles
- Any vehicle that has had mass added to it by the addition of accessories as above, carries trade tools or a performance upgrade.
- Any 4x4s that regularly tow heavy caravans, boats or trailers.
- Disc brakes also continue to perform well when wet, unlike drum brakes, so 4x4s used in off-road conditions, river crossings, etc.

Bendix 6-Piston Monoblock Calipers are included in the Front Kit and Bendix Calipers in the Rear. The calipers with their extra pistons are designed to apply greater pressure to the brake pads, resulting in a shorter stopping distance.

Ultimate 4WD Brake Pads
Designed to meet Australia’s tough 4WD conditions, the Bendix Ultimate 4WD Brake Pads deliver increased stopping power when you need it. The high performance brake pads utilise a specially compounded high performance ceramic material that functions in extreme conditions.

Ultimate 4WD Disc Brake Rotors
Ultimate 4WD Disc Brake Rotors are manufactured to the highest level of precision engineering based on OEM specifications and incorporate innovative technology such as 4WD Metallurgy for increased braking performance plus special diamond tip slots and a special bi-directional pillar design to quickly and efficiently expel gases, water, dust and grit. Together this provides the driver with absolute control when braking in extreme conditions with instant response and even friction.

Ultimate 4WD Brake Hose
Easy to fit braided brake hoses with a protective sleeve are included with each designed and manufactured in compliance with SAE J1401 specifications.

Ultimate 4WD Big Brake Upgrade Kit Legal Requirements
NSW, VIC ,TAS and SA
All require engineering sign off once installed. Sign off engineers will require a copy of the ADR35/05 test report before or during inspection, report provided by Bendix.
QLD and WA
LG1 codes achieved and registered with state registration authorities. LG1 codes available on request or via the preferred installer portal.
NT
No engineering sign-off required, however your vehicle will need to be inspected by the NT MVR.
New Zealand
- The New Zealand registration authority (NZTA) recognises ADR master reports for vehicles that are to be used on New Zealand roads.
- The compliance process is similar to VIC, NSW, SA and TAS, so a vehicle that’s fitted with either front or rear (or both) Ultimate Big Brake Upgrade Kits will require a Low Volume Vehicle Certification (LVVC).
- Once fitted, the installer will need to contact the Low Volume Vehicle Technical Association (LVVTA) to have the vehicle inspected by an independent certifier before a plate is applied to the vehicle. The certifier will apply to the LVVTA on behalf of the fitter/vehicle owner to have the vehicle plated, which will allow the vehicle to gain a Warranty of Fitness going forward.
- LVVC inspectors can be found at https://www.lvvta.org.nz/conta...
