Since being launched last year, Bendix’s award-winning* General CT™ Disc Brake Rotor range with industry-first visual wear indicator, has been widely adopted by many workshops including V-Mech Automotive in Queensland.

Located in Morayfield between Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast, the workshop was established in 2018 by husband and wife duo, Scott and Kristen Vanderzalm, who together with service advisor, Hayley and fourth year apprentice, Ben, offer a wide range of automotive services.

While general mechanical servicing forms the core of V-Mech’s business, the team also undertakes performance upgrades, wheel alignments, lift kits, wheel and tyre combos and operate a mobile mechanic unit, which provides a good variety of work for the team. This breadth of services has also exposed the crew to Bendix’s wide catalogue of friction material products, rotors, brake upgrade kits and ancillary products.

“We have always used Bendix brake pads for their quality, so when we found out about the new range of rotors we decided to give them a go. The General CT™ brake pads are good quality, and the new rotors have proven to be as well. The wear indicator and rust proof coating are great selling points,” Scott said.

“We’re extremely customer focused and trusted by our clientele – we wouldn’t fit any components to their vehicles that we wouldn’t have on our own cars that we drive our kids around in.”

Providing an efficient, cost effective yet high-quality service experience is important for V-Mech, and Scott said that General CT™ rotors helped in this regard.

“I believe the cost of living has impacted a lot of households and we can see that with customers vehicles – one of the main things we are seeing is pad slaps, where new brake pads are fitted to old rotors with no machining and therefore the rotors end up being very grooved and unable to get a decent measurement. The wear indicators being imprinted into the rotor makes it easy to see when they need replacing or if they can be machined,” Scott explained.

Bendix General CT™ Disc Brake Rotors have become the go to choice for V-Mech Automotive, owing to the rotors' quality and visual wear indicator.

Additionally, the General CT™ rotor’s clever packaging has not gone unnoticed either by members of the V-Mech Automotive team, according to Scott.

The rotor packaging allows easier handling thanks to the introduction of ‘Easy Lift’ finger holes. These are pre-punctured holes that allow each box to be picked up more ergonomically.

“I grab them and throw them on the shelf, but I think for the office staff it does make a difference and helps them when they are allocating parts etc, as they are easier to carry correctly,” Scott said.

“We also like the FSC-certified packaging – we try our hardest to do everything as cleanly as possible, so buying parts that are packaged responsibly is huge and of course disposing of the packaging as to not pollute the environment.”

With business going well for V-Mech Automotive, the close-knit team is currently looking for a new technician to join them. There are also plans to eventually move into a larger premises.
