The Supercars kicked the action off on Thursday morning with two practice sessions. Nick would come out of both sessions in the top ten, driving the seventh-fastest lap in Practice 1 and the fourth-fastest lap in Practice 2. Friday would prove itself a monumental day for the team an outstanding showing in Race 5. Nick Percat would take the P2 position early on in the 12-lap affair, and despite a race restart on lap 8, Matt Stone Racing would ultimately end the race with an epic 1-2 finish. Nick had the following to say to cap off the day.

Nick Percat: “It was always about maximum team points to get ourselves further up the pitlane ahead of New Zealand. So two more races to go to make sure we can be in a better spot in pitlane, but to get maximum points for the whole of MSR is amazing. For Matt, he has worked crazy hard over the years to get to a point with this team and I think Gen3 has been really good for him. Obviously it was a really hard slog when he first started the MSR thing and the equipment and all that but now he has got two really good cars, fast drivers, a great team – like they will do anything for us. It’s pretty cool to see how he goes about it and I know Jimmy will be at home and I’m sure he has got tears in his eyes with how proud he would be of Matt and the whole team. It’s amazing to be able to deliver a one-two and I know how special they are because I was able to get one with Chaz in Adelaide at the end of the Holden era. Then to do it around here in Melbourne with the fans, it's very cool.”

Qualifying for Race 6 would kick away Saturday with Nick Percat earning himself a P4 start thanks to a 1m46.703s best lap. Race 7 Qualifying would take place right afterwards with Nick ending the session with a P11 qualifying result after a 1m46.767s best lap.

Saturday would end with another outstanding showing from Nick Percat. After taking second place earlier in the race, the Bendix Racing Camaro’s power steering system would begin to fail, causing Nick to slip into third place. Nick would hold on, and despite the power steering failing completely on the last lap, Nick would do an incredible job holding back the pack to earn himself a spot on the podium with a P3 race result. Nick had the following to say to round out the day.

Nick Percat: “I wasn’t giving up, I thought we were going to win it. I had a lot of pace over both the Red Bulls before the restart. We had to go so slow under the safety car, everything got real hot, and you can probably see me on TV hanging wide. Took the restart, power steering was shot so I just had to let Broc [Feeney] go and get clear air on the front of the car. But then with a lap to go it fully exploded and we did the last lap with no power steering. I over-and-undered Brodie with nothing, with my knees. I was not giving up, this far was 100 percent on the podium. Because we should have been in contention to win it. Credit to Brodie, he saw what was happening, he could have turfed me out of the way but we raced hard. I had to use him as a guard rail through the last corner. My knees got a workout. Lucky I’m tall.”
